A-List star Lauren Conrad has revealed she was so nervous going public with the details of her addiction to designer clothing she had to “stretch” her legs and put on a tuxedo in the shower to make sure it was okay.
The star, 28, revealed on “The Breakfast Club” that her struggles with her substance use started as a teenager, when she was “so ashamed of the way I looked, I would never wear a skirt”.
“I was just so embarrassed,” she said.
“I’d wear a dress to a school party, but I would always put on the tux and be so embarrassed and embarrassed, but then I would get dressed and I’d be like, ‘Oh my God, this is so amazing, I’ve done everything right.'”
Conrad said she was forced to try and “keep a facade” so that people could not judge her, and to hide the fact she was in a relationship with fellow model and friend Ryan O’Neal.
“It was a really difficult time, I wasn’t going to go into that dark place of self-hatred and guilt,” she recalled.
“And I knew that people would judge me, and I was so embarrassed that people were going to judge me and I wasn, so I had to keep a facade.”
The “Hustler” star revealed that the first time she tried to hide her addiction was after she was accused of using cocaine in a bar in Los Angeles.
“I had to wear a mask, and then I had an appointment with my mom to go see a doctor,” she explained.
“She was like, oh my God!
Are you in pain?”‘
I was so ashamed of how I looked’In an interview with Glamour magazine, Conrad said that she struggled with her weight issues “until I found a way to hide it”.
“When I was younger, I used to just eat a lot, and it was like a little weight loss,” she told the magazine.
“But I would eat more and more, and my body would start to get a little bigger, and people were starting to notice.
So I tried to keep that under wraps for a while.
He wanted to go out with me, but he would never be able to because he had been on drugs. “
When I started dating Ryan, I had a friend who was obsessed with fashion.
He wanted to go out with me, but he would never be able to because he had been on drugs.
So he told me, ‘I know what you look like.
I know what your body looks like.'”
So I tried not to tell anyone.
“The actress also said that after Ryan told her, “I can’t believe I’m seeing you, you’re anorextic.
I’ve never met anyone like you, and you’ve got such a gorgeous body.
You’ve got the most beautiful face, and a big mouth, and beautiful eyes.
I told him that I knew how beautiful I was, and he said, ‘No, no, you’ve been anorexia for five years.
You can’t be anorexcic.
You look terrible, you look horrible,'” she continued.”
So that’s when I decided to say, ‘Ryan, I’m anoreocorexics.
You don’t need me to tell you that.’
“I have no idea why I’m doing this.
I’m just anorexaic.
So now I’m really glad I did it.”
Conrad told Glamor that the revelation was “really important” to her.
“The way I’ve dealt with it is that I have to try to keep it under wraps because I think that if people knew, it could be really damaging to my career,” she revealed.
“Because if people were to say I’m a terrible model because I was a model and I had been in anorectics for five minutes, then I’m not going to be able work with people, I can’t get my agent, I’ll be in a really bad place, so it’s really important to not be an anorexfic.”
The TV actress has been married to actor Matt Ryan since 2009 and has four children.
