Fierce fashion brand Vivienne Westwood is set to open its second location in New York City, but it’s not quite ready to embrace the “game changer” of the “Game Changers” mobile app, which has become the fastest-growing app in the country.
The new location will open in the city’s Flatiron district on Sunday, Aug. 24, VivienneWestwood said on a conference call Tuesday.
The New York Times first reported on the plans for the second location, citing sources familiar with the matter.
The Times reported the new store would open in mid-August in the Flatiron area, near Westwood’s iconic office on West 46th Street.
The company declined to comment on the Times’ reporting.
The Flatiron location would be Vivienne’s second location outside the U.S., after a store in Toronto opened earlier this year.
The New York location would mark Vivienne and Westwood first U.K. stores.
Westwood, who has had a string of stores open in Europe and the U to celebrate her 25th birthday, said on the conference call that the new location in the U was the best choice for the company.
She said it was important for her to stay true to her roots and heritage, as well as to build on Vivienne Eastwood’s legacy and style.
“This is the place where I’m proud to be from,” she said.
Westwoods brand Vivietys flagship store in New Westminster, British Columbia, is seen in Vancouver, British, Canada, on May 2, 2018.
Westwood has expanded its presence in Canada, and in 2018, the company expanded its footprint in the United States, opening a new store in Manhattan’s West Village.
She added on Tuesday that she has been in touch with U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres about expanding Vivienne businesses in the Middle East.
Westwoods first U and U.P. stores opened in Dubai, Saudi Arabia, and Abu Dhabi in 2018.
In 2019, Viviety opened a store at Dubai’s Al Taqwa Shopping Centre.
The new New York store is part of Vivienne stores worldwide and is Vivienneworld’s fourth global store, following stores in Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai, New York and Dubai.
